December 2021

December 2021.

December 2021. Or any month of December. My regular readers already know that I am not fun for December.

The month of December always has something with me. Healthwise. There is always something going on. So for me, it would be nice if we could skip this month. In that month, or I am in the hospital, or I am sick, or have pain somewhere.

I know, it is also the holiday month and it should be a happy and nice month. But I am not always looking forward to it. The holidays and the happiness is okay. But I am always thinking, “What will happen this time”.

If this is the first time you read one of my posts, if you check the category “health” and “heart”, you will see all my stories. Okay, it is not every time in December there is something wrong, but it happens a lot.

We are almost near the end of December and so far healthwise, not much had happened (Knock on Wood). Other things had happened and I would like to tell you about them. Just to make the month of December a bit more attractive to me.

A Small Health Update.

Last year December they had removed my kidney stone. Since then, I have had regular checkups to see what could be done to prevent or slow down the growth of a new kidney stone. And to see if the medication is working okay. Something like three to four months ago, they started the research of my blood to see if by doing a gen/DNA research if they could find out if there may be something was wrong. But the result was negative. They did not find anything. They are still stuck with the question, where the glucose in my urine comes from. Everything else looks stable. So the next checkup will be over 6 months. Until then, I will just take my medication as before.

My Writing.

For my writing, several things had happened. Good things. In a previous post, I already mentioned that I am expanding my writing. For a month now I am publishing some posts on the blogging platform Vocal. In three weeks, three of my posts were accepted and published. All of them were published in one go. No comments or remarks. To my surprise, so far it went without any problems. I am really happy about that.

For those who are interested or did not read them yet, these are the three posts;

I am also still posting on Medium. Not so often, but I think at least once a month. Normally I will post there some posts from this site. Some older once. Technically, it is better that I will post something new here first before I will post it somewhere else. It has got to do with plagiarism.

For a short while, I am already thinking of maybe submitting my posts to a publication on Medium. When you do that, you will reach more people. The downside is, that the rules are more strict and it needs to fit in their field of interest. In a certain way, you are being limited in what you write and where you write about. (Less freedom). That is the reason that on Medium, I self-publish my posts.

Only very recently did I come across a publication on Medium that sounded nice. You could write about anything you wish to. It is mainly for new writers. I just first wanted some information, before I would make my move. After some email exchange, I suddenly got the message that I was added as a writer for their publication. As you can imagine I was very surprised about this. Now I only need to find a nice post and submit it to them. But as always, I am not in a hurry. It needs to feel right to me before I write something new and submit it to them.

Timewise.

Suddenly some days ago, I got a funny thought. “The more time we have, the less time we have”. You also can turn it around. “The less time we have, the more time we have”.

Just think about it and then let me try to explain this thought.

For my example. I am not working so I am home the whole day. Timewise I have a lot of time. But at the end of the day, it looks like that I am short of time. This is maybe strange because 24 hours is 24 hours. And it is the same for everyone. For me it is like juggling between time, things of interest, and what really needs to be done that day. And before you know it, the day is over again. You could say that time flies when you are having “fun”.

The other way around is, for example, you are working. Things are very busy and at the end of the day, you have done everything and you still have time to spare. Or you are so busy, and it looks like the day will never end.

I have several interests and it is a little bit difficult to arrange my time between all of them. Like working on my scale model. I would like to do this but when sitting behind the computer and reading about no-code or low-code programming, you stumble from one interesting thing into another. And before you know it, the day is over. Or when I am busy writing for my blog. Once you are in the zone, you will forget everything around you. Then when you look at the clock, you see that you are already busy for maybe two or three hours.

At those moments I will just think “At least I had fun or enjoyed what I was doing”. But maybe next time try to arrange my time better.

Closing.

The month of December is almost over, and knock on wood, so far no health problems. But we are not out of the woods yet. There are still a few days to go. So we will still take it easy and be careful. With the pandemic still going strong, I am extra careful. Every week you will hear from someone around you or friends, that someone is tested positive again. Especially with that new Omicron virus. This is spreading quicker than the previous one.

For my writing. To my surprise, it is all going well. It is better than what I was hoping for. The only thing I am praying for is that more people will read my posts and that it can be of help to them or inspire them. But for this, I am not in a hurry. Time will tell. I am also aware that it will not be all as smooth as it is going now. I know that there will be some bumps along the way. But that is good. They are there to learn from.

The things for my kidney are stable, so far. We just keep on doing what we did this year and at the checkup next year, we hope that things are still stable.

As for my scale models. I am happy that I restarted my old hobby again. It feels good to do it. And when a model is finished, it gives you a proud feeling. Not every build is easy. But that is okay.

If you are interested to see what I am building or have built already, I have created another blog. You can find it here: The Happy Amateur Builder.

As a closing word, I would like to wish you all a Happy, Healthy, and Safe 2022 and that the Lord may protect and guide you through this coming year.

Please take care and stay safe.
God Bless
