Rethinking your view.
Maybe I already had mention it before, but I like to listen and watch to the sermons of Ptr. Rick Warren from Saddleback Church.
On YouTube, I have subscribed to his channel and now and then I will just mark some of his videos to watch them later.
Some times he has a series of videos that are connected and I will try to collect them.
I normally will watch these videos later.
So I already have a whole list of them.
I like to watch/listen to them while I am doing some house chores.
Mainly when I am doing some ironing.
(And Yes, I do that.)
It keeps my mind of wandering off into bad or negative thoughts.
And it works great for me.
At the same time, I also will learn more from his sermons.
At Saddleback Church they have serval preachers.
So it is not always Ptr. Rick who is preaching.
Change your thinking.
Right now I am watching a series from him about Rethinking.
The video I would like to share about is called “Rethinking Your View about Yourself”
It’s from Buddy Owens and Jeremiah Goley.
Here is the link to that video.
https://youtu.be/3cT1HS-QsYQ
I would like to encourage you to take the time and opportunity to watch this video.
It is around 47 minutes long.
The main point in this series is, that if you want to change your life, you need to change the way you think.
You cannot change your life by changing your behavior.
You also cannot do it with willpower or forcing yourself to change.
The way you think is the way you act.
So to change the way you act, you need to change the way you think.
Ephesians 4:23 (NIV)
be made new in the attitude of your minds
“be made new”
The definition from that from Greek is Renovate.
So you could say; Renovate, Change or Remodel you thinking.
The way you think.
The way, or what you think, is also how you see God.
And how you think God is looking at you.
So when you have negative thoughts, you also think that God is thinking negative about you.
But this is not true.
God doesn’t think negatively about you.
He is there for you, to help you, to guide you, to give you wisdom.
There are several verses that will tell you this also.
I had put the ten verses that were mentioned in that video, below.
So if you get maybe some negative thoughts or you want to change your thinking, just look at them and maybe read them out loud.
“My Faith Confession”.
Pastor Buddy Owens said it in a nice way.
“We need to be made new in the attitude of our minds and here’s how it is done. You confess your faith, you say what God says about you, you let that change the way you think, and then you will change the way you live. Because when you know the truth, then the truth will set you free.“
So he calls these verses your confession to faith.
1 Corinthians 15:3-4
I believe Jesus Christ died for my sins and rose again from the dead on the third day.
2 Corinthians 5:17
I am a new creation in Christ; the old life is gone, a new life has begun.
John 8:36
The Son has set me free, I am free indeed!
Romans 8:1
There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
1 Corinthians 10:13
God is faithful. He will not let me be tempted beyond what I can bear.
Romans 8:38-39
Nothing can ever separate me from the love of God in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 3:20
He is able to do immeasurably more than all I ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within me.
Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
1 John 4:4
Greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world.
Romans 8:31
God is for me! Who can be against me?
Closing.
I know it is not easy.
Reading those verses and still having doubts.
I had my fair share of setbacks and negative thinking and who knows what else I will still be going through.
But I will keep these verses and read them over and over.
Having faith in difficult times is hard.
Trust me.
And changing your thinking takes time.
But it will be all worth it in the long run.
When you hang on and keep confessing your faith and change your thinking, people around you will see and notice the change.
And so will God.
Take care and stay safe.
God Bless
Hi Pierre, hier nog enkele verzen uit de Bijbel die in dit kader ook erg belangrijk zijn:
Jer 31:33 “But this [is] the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
Eze 36:25 ¶ “Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols.
Eze 36:26 “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
Eze 36:27 “I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do [them].
Ik hoop, dat deze je hiervoor ook behulpzaam zullen zijn.
Hi Nico,
Heel erg bedankt.
Ik voeg ze toe aan mijn prive lijstje.
